Someone Just Won $1 Million On A $5 Scratch-Off In Upstate New York
A lottery player is celebrating a life-changing payday after hitting it big on a scratch-off ticket purchased at a gas station in Upstate New York.
The New York Lottery announced that the lucky player has officially claimed a $1 million top prize from one of its popular scratch-off games.

Upstate New York Player Wins $1 Million on Scratch-Off
According to the New York Lottery, Jacneil Baker of Troy has officially claimed the $1 million top prize from the "50Xtra" scratch-off ticket. The lucky $5 ticket was purchased at the Mobil Metro 50 gas station, located at 50 Columbia Street in Rensselaer, NY.

As is often the case with big lottery winners in New York, Baker chose to receive the winnings as a one-time lump sum instead of annual payments. After all required federal and state tax withholdings, the final payout came to $442,681.

While that's a far cry from the original $1 million prize, it's still enough money to pay off debt, buy a home, take an incredible vacation, or simply enjoy a little extra financial freedom.
One More $1 Million Prize Still Waiting in New York
If you've been buying "50Xtra" scratch-off tickets, there's still reason to be hopeful. The New York Lottery says one final $1 million top prize remains in the current "50Xtra" game. That means another lucky player somewhere in New York could be the next person celebrating a life-changing win.
Of course, the odds of winning are long, but somebody has to cash in. This time it happened to a player from Upstate New York. With one more $1 million prize still out there, who's to say the next winner won't be from right here in the Hudson Valley?
