Clear your calendar for June 1st because you are not going to want to miss this celebration. It is the first of its kind that I have ever heard of so that is probably why it is also being promoted as a once-in-a-lifetime event.

The Hudson-Athens Lighthouse is celebrating its 150 years and on June 1st the celebration will be epic. Built in 1874 it was just recently named to the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

I have never even heard of a boat parade but it sounds like something every waterfront town should consider, I love a good street parade but watching boats go by just sounds relaxing and perfect for everything that's planned to celebrate this lighthouse.

The parade will set sail at 12 PM from Athens, New York. The United States Coast Guard will lead the parade. After the parade, there will be food and drinks along with Music at the Henry Hudson Riverfront Park. Admission is Free at the park.

the Mohawk Hudson Council of Yacht Club, Hudson River Boat and Yacht Club Assoc. & many more! Boats will cruise down towards Catskill, passing the iconic Rip Van Winkle Bridge (via Hudson-Athen Lighthouse)

How Many Lighthouses are on the Hudson River

At one time dozens of lighthouses marked the shores of the Hudson River according to Hudson River Light House but now sadly there are only seven. That is not including the Statue of Liberty which does qualify as a light making it the 8th unofficially.

Four of the remaining lighthouses are in our part of the Hudson Valley. You have the Esopus Meadows, The Rondout Lighthouse in Kingston, The Saugerties Lighthouse, and The Hudosn Athens light.
