Police say an intoxicated Orange County woman caused a car crash on the New York State Thruway and physically resisted arrested.

New York State Police responded to a report of a two car crash southbound on I-87 near exited 15A. An investigation determined a 2008 Volvo S60 hit the rear of a 2001 Honda Odyssey. Police allege that the driver of the Volvo, 24-year-old Samantha A. Roland, of Sterling Forest, was intoxicated.

Police say Roland refused to comply with commands, became belligerent, and physically resisted arrest before being placed into custody. She was transported and processed in Tarrytown where her blood alcohol content was found to be 0.17%, over twice the legal limit of intoxication.

Roland was charged with driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. She was also given a violation for 2nd-degree harassment.

Roland was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets. She is due in Town of Ramapo Court on February 4th.
