Hudson Valley Man Wins $1 Million in Lotto Scratch Off
A Hudson Valley man who plays the lotto daily is now a million dollar winner by switching up his routine.
Joseph Corsello, 62, of Stormville won a $1 million prize by by matching the number 16 on a Super Tripler Cash scratch-off ticket purchased on his way to work.
“I stop every morning for coffee and a few Lottery tickets. I was going to buy three of the Super Tripler Cash tickets but decided to get four this time,” Corsello told the New York Lotto while being presented with a giant check.
It was the fourth ticket that produced the $1 million winner for the Dutchess County man who just celebrated his 40th wedding anniversary with his wife, Carol.
“I scratched the prize underneath and saw the words ‘Jackpot – $1 Million.’ I immediately thought of my wife and how lucky I was to find her. I just want to make life easier for her,” he said.
The father of two and grandfather of two plans to continue working as a fencing contractor, but now without worrying as much about retirement.
“I feel like a huge burden has been lifted off my back. I think sometimes, luck just finds you,” he said.
Corsello chose to receive his $1 million prize as an annuity. He will continue to receive annual payments of $50,000, a net of $33,090 through 2036.
Corsello purchased his $1 million-winning ticket at Hopewell Premium Gas in Hopewell Junction. He joins a growing list of Dutchess County residents who won a prize of $1 million or more in 2017.
James and Sylvia Silverance of Poughkeepsie split a $10 million prize on a $10,000,000 Cash scratch-off game in January and Richard Green of East Fishkill took home his $1 million a Mega Millions second place price.
