Police: Hudson Valley Man Stole Lottery Tickets, Money From Two Businesses
A Hudson Valley man is accused of stealing over $1,000 worth of lottery scratch off tickets from a local store.
Jasper Stringfellow, 33, of Monticello was arrested on two-counts of burglary, two-counts of grand larceny, all felonies, and a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of burglar tools.
Stringfellow was arrested following investigations into two separate burglaries in the Village of Monticello.
On July 11, Stringfellow broke into the Veo Mobil convenience store on Forestburg Road and stole $1,250 in cash, police say.
On Friday, Stringfellow allegedly broke into Beer World and stole $1,399 in New York State lottery scratch off tickets.
Video surveillance from both stores led police to identify Stringfellow as a suspect in both crimes. Some of the stolen proceeds were found at Stringfellow’s home on Saturday, police say.
Strigfellow was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $50,000 bail pending further court action.
