On Friday in Orange County Court, 21-year-old Dejoire Fox of Newburgh pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a man during a botched robbery attempt in June 2017 in the City of Newburgh.
Fox confessed that he entered an apartment on Chambers Street with the plan of robbing the occupant.
Fox, who was armed with a pistol, fatally shot 63-year-old Raul Diaz-Martinez in the head during the robbery attempt.
Fox is scheduled to be sentenced on April 30.
An Orange County grand jury charged two others, 26-year-old Omarrio Morrison and a 17-year-old, both from Newburgh, with second-degree murder and attempted robbery in connection with Diaz-Martinez’s death.
