Edith M. Dawson, 87, an area resident for 24 years and formerly of Brooklyn, died on January 18, 2017 at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital.

Born in Brooklyn on June 21, 1929, she was the daughter of Paul and Edith Peterson Christ. She had been employed in customer service at the Greater New York Savings Bank in Brooklyn.

On April 11, 1953 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Brooklyn, Edith married Harry T. Dawson who predeceased her on April 22, 2012. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael and Judith Dawson, Kathryn and Thomas Sheridan, Elaine and Peter Konunchuk, Jane and Nick Riale, Irene and Louis Arocho, Ann and Anthony Carbone; her grandchildren, Katie, Sarah, Kelly, Jeannine, Andrew, Audrey, Melissa, Suzanne, Amanda, Jason, Dmitry, Michelle, Thomas, James, Stephanie, Tabatha, Louis, Christopher, Lyndsay, Kimberly, Lauren and Alyssa; her great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher, Madelyn, Payton, Noah, Analise, Raven, River, Hannah, Amelia, Jackson and Liliana; her brother, John Christ and his wife Lynn, and her sisters-in-law Mary and Marie; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her brothers, Paul, Arthur and Robert Christ; and son-in-law John Oldenborg.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 9-11am at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 11:30am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
