Following a routine traffic stop in Dover Plains police arrested two men after discovering their vehicle was reported stolen.

New York State Police from Dover Plains arrested Shaun M. Williams, 33, of Poughkeepsie and 34-year-old, Amenia resident, Christopher Frenyea-White.

Police say they pulled over a U-haul on Saturday traveling on Route 22 in Dover after observing two small children sitting on the passenger's lap. Following an investigation conducting by the arresting officer, it was discovered that the truck was reported stolen to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police department in June of 2015.

Shaun Williams, the vehicle's passenger, alleged that he rented the truck in June of 2015 and hasn't returned it because he needs the U-haul for transportation. Williams was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a felony and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

The driver, Frenyea-White, was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, a misdemeanor. He was also issued traffic tickets for not having the two children properly seated in child safety seats and for aggravated unlicensed operation.

Both suspects were given appearnce tickets and are due to appear in the Town of Dover Justice Court on January 11, 2016
