Police from Dutchess County are credited with saving a woman’s life who was overdosing.

East Fishkill Police Officers Austin Nichols and Dennis Mullaney responded to a reported heroin overdose at a residence on Arrowhead Road in Hopewell Junction.

Upon arriving they located the victim, a 29 year old female. Police say the woman was unconscious and barely breathing.

The officers administered a dose of Narcan, medication that has been found to reverse the effects of heroin.

The woman shortly became semi-conscious and was treated by the East Fishkill Rescue Squad and Mobile Life Emergency Medical Services and transported to a Poughkeepsie Hospital for treatment.
