A Dutchess County man is accused of fleeing police at high speeds through multiple local towns and crashing into another car.

On Saturday, the Village of Rhinebeck and the Village of Red Hook Police Departments arrested 27-year-old Christopher Marchant from Hyde Park after he allegedly fled from a traffic stop.

Marchant fled the traffic stop in Rhinebeck at a high rate of speed into the Village of Red Hook where he was involved in an accident with another vehicle on Firehouse Lane, police say.

Marchant is then accused of running from his vehicle but was detained after a short foot pursuit.

Marchant was charged with resisting arrest, unlawful fleeing a police vehicle, reckless driving, moving from lane unsafely and more. He also faces multiples charges in both the Town of Rhinebeck and the Village of Red Hook, police say.

He was arraigned in the Town of Rhinebeck Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
