Police say a medical issue caused a Hudson Valley woman’s car to land on top of two parked cars. Amazingly, no injuries were reported at the scene.

The Town of Ulster Police Department says 39-year-old Penny D. Scofield of Lake Katrine began suffering an unknown medical issue while driving early Tuesday morning. Due to the medical issue, Scofield didn’t make a left turn onto Boices Lane and traveled off the roadway where her 2007 Chevrolet hit some bushes.

Scofield then reentered the roadway and nailed a 2015 Chevrolet, which was being driven by Evelyn R. Peters, 52, of Saugerties. Scofield’s car continued east, striking a wooden guide rail at the intersection of Boices Land and Dogwood Street. Scofield’s car momentarily came to a rest.

Moments later, Scofield, who was still suffering from an unknown medical issue, hit a 2008 Hyundai driven by Diane M. Lent, 67, of Lake Katrine while backing up onto Boices Lane. After colliding with the Hyundai, Scofield continued driving in reverse on Boices Lane through the intersection with Enterprise Drive and onto Boices Lane Extension.

Still backing, Schofield struck an earth embankment inside the United Health Care parking lot. This caused her car to go airborne, where it finally came to a rest on top of two unoccupied parked vehicles in the United Health Care parking lot.

Town of Ulster Police say there were no injuries reported at the scene, however Scofield was transported to Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley by Mobile Life Support Services for evaluation of the unknown medical condition.

At this time, no tickets have been issued but the investigation is on going.
