Consumer Affairs is cautioning residents to be wary of this scam that is steam rolling it's way through the Hudson Valley.

The Ulster County District's Attorney's Office Division of Consumer Affairs is warning homeowners to wary of paving businesses who solicit door-to-door.

Be wary of being pressured that work needs to be done immediately. Be sure to get a written estimate/contract beforehand to make sure the paperwork has the name, telephone number and address of the business.

Always compare estimates before hiring anyone to complete the work. Always be sure to note license plate numbers and vehicle descriptions of any solicitors.

If you feel you have been a victim of a scam, Consumer Affairs can be reached at (845) 340-3260.
