19 Arrested in DWI Crackdown In the Hudson Valley

Over a four day period Police in the Hudson Valley arrested 19 for impaired driving. Many of the arrests occurred after accidents, including a hit-and-run, a rolled over car, and a 100 MPH chase.

In an effort to combat intoxicated and impaired drivers throughout Dutchess, Putnam, Columbia and Westchester Counties, New York State Police made the 19 DWI related arrests between Friday Oct. 14 and Monday Oct 17. Below is a list of the some of the arrests.

Christopher Espinal, 22, of Danbury, C.T. was charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors. Police say he was spotted traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour on the Interstate 684 in Dutchess County. Espinal failed to stop for police and continued to travel at a high rate of speed. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Southeast Court on Oct 27.

Christine B. Bannon, 57, of Wappingers Falls for driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor. Troopers were dispatched to a two-car hit and run crash that occurred on Route 9 in Wappinger. It was discovered that Bannon struck the rear of another vehicle and fled the crash site, police say. She was located at her residence and accused of being on drugs. She is due to appear in Wappinger Court on Nov. 1.

Ljuban Milic, 65, of New Rochelle was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and driving while intoxicated. Milic was stopped by police on Route 82 in Columbia County for failing to dim his high beams to on-coming traffic and found to unlawfully possess a .22 caliber handgun, police say. The defendant was arraigned in the Town of Gallatin Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail.

Demetrio V. Gomez, 43, of Pine Plains was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, and driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. Troopers were dispatched to investigate a one-car collision that occurred on the Taconic State Parkway. A investigation revealed that Gomez, was intoxicated at the time of the crash, officials say. He was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear in the Town of Clinton Court on Oct 24.

Sean C. McGuire, 24, of Fishkill was arrested for driving while intoxicated after an investigation into a rollover one-car crash in Wappinger. He was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Wappinger Court on Oct. 25.

Bryan Guerra Ramirez, 22, of Brewster was charged with driving while intoxicated after a one-car collision Tonetta Lake Road. He was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear in the Town of Southeast Court on Oct. 27.

Raymond J. Squires, 56, of Cold Spring was charged with DWI after police investigated a one-car crash that on Route 9 in Philipstown. He was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear in the Town of Philipstown Justice Court on Nov. 9.

Dennis A. Rivera, 25, of Poughkeepsie was arrested for aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. Rivera was charged after an investigation into a one-car crash on Route 9D. He was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear in the Town of Wappinger Justice Court on Oct. 25.

Katelyn Gardner, 21, of East Fishkill was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Troopers stopped Gardner on State Route 22 for an equipment violation. A subsequent investigation revealed that she was intoxicated at the time of the stop, police say. She was issued traffic tickets directing her to appear in the Town of Southeast Court on Oct. 27.

Christopher M. Dolphin, 24, of Fishkill was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. Dolphin was charged after a trooper stopped his car on N. Mission Road for an inoperable head light. He was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear in the Town of East Fishkill Court on Oct. 26.

Carlos Gonzalez, 36, of Beacon was charged with a DWI, a misdemeanor, following a one-car accident investigation. He was issued traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Yorktown Court on October 27, 2016.

Henry K. Gumbrecht, 47, of Putnam Valley was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. Gumbrecht was charged with DWI following a traffic stop for speeding, police say.

Carlos L. Monge, 44, of New York City was charged with DWI under Leandra’s Law and aggravated unlicensed operation, both felonies. Monge was stopped on Route 9A for failing to maintain his lane of travel. A subsequent investigation revealed that he was intoxicated at the time of the traffic stop, officials say. Monge was charged with Felony DWI under Leandra’s Law due to the fact that he had his 9-year-old son in the vehicle while he was driving. He was arraigned in the Town of Cortlandt Court and released after posting $1,000 cash bail.
