One person was killed after multiple cars caught fire in the parking lot of a Hudson Valley apartment complex.

The Town of Wallkill Police Department is investigating a fatal car fire involving multiple vehicles at an apartment at the Sherwood Forest Garden Apartments off Goshen Turnpike in Scotchtown late Sunday morning.

One neighbor says a driver crashed into a parked car, which started a fire that quickly spread to other parked vehicles. Other neighbors tell Rockland Video they heard a loud crash and then an explosion in the apartment parking lot just after 10 a.m.

Witnesses then noticed multiple cars engulfed in flames and a driver trapped in one car not moving.

Town of Wallkill and New York State Police draped off that car with a blue tarp to shield it from public view. The name of the deceased hasn't been released as of this writing.
