Poughkeepsie Planet Wings Catches Fire
On Thursday, May 18th, at 11:45 p.m., the Arlington Fire District was dispatched for a fire at Planet Wings in Poughkeepsie.
Arlington firefighters arrived on scene one minute later, forced entry and encountered heavy smoke conditions. An active fire was discovered on the roof of the restaurant that was closed at the time.
No injuries were caused by the fire that was extinguished within 30 minutes of dispatch. Arlington was assisted at the scene by firefighters from LaGrange and medics from Mobile Life. The Roosevelt, New Hamburg, and Pleasant Valley fire departments relocated equipment to the Arlington stations for backup.
The fire was investigated by the Arlington Fire District Investigation Unit and was determined to be caused by an electrical malfunction involving a neon sign.
