Thomas L. Jamison, of New Windsor, NY, entered into rest on Monday, May 29, 2017 at Wingate at Beacon Nursing home and Rehab. He was 86.

The son of the late Thomas J. Jamison and Marion (Cowley) Jamison, Tom was born December 27, 1929 in Newburgh.

Loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was kind, compassionate, and hardworking. He graduated from Lafayette College with a degree in Chemistry, and proudly served his country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Tom was employed with Stauffer Chemical Company in Newburgh as quality control manager for more than 20 years, until the company relocated to South Carolina. Then, he was hired as head of school bus operations for West Point Tours for 15 years. He was a volunteer fireman with Vails Gate Fire Dept. and he and his wife volunteered with raising puppies for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Together, they relocated to Englewood, Florida when he retired. He kept busy with his church activities, AARP instruction, and especially enjoyed barbershop singing performances with Lemon Bay Chord Company.

Tom played piano and enjoyed entertaining friends and family with his music. He enjoyed helping and encouraging people. He loved the Hudson River valley and spent much of his free time boating on the River or hiking in its hills.

He married his sweetheart, on his birthday because "she was the best present he could ever want". Survivors include his wife, Eileen (Strait), of 63 years of marriage, his son, Glenn Thomas Jamison of Branford, CT, daughter Stacey and son-in-law, Michael Hughes of New Windsor, NY and eight grandchildren: Morgan, Taylor, Tucker, Merrill, Mckaila, Nathanael, Tiernan, and Eliana.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in Thomas's memory to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alzhudsonvalley.org) or Guiding Eyes for the Blind (www.guidingeyes.org).

Memorial visitation will be announced at a later date.
