Robert Kevin Coghlan, 78, an area resident since 1969, died on August 21, 2017 at his home.

Born in the Bronx on January 20, 1939, he was the son of Thomas and Lillian (Ryan) Coghlan. He had lived in Yonkers and the Bronx where he was a parishioner of Christ the King Church and St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church. Bob had worked as an Engineering Manager for IBM in East Fishkill for 26 years until his retirement in 1992.

He was a devoted parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction where he served as a lector and usher. He was the Past President of the Holy Name Society and a member of the St. Columba Men’s Group. He was also a very active member of St. Mary’s Council #4065, Knights of Columbus and a Fourth Degree member of St. John Paul II #2917 where he was the Past Faithful Navigator.

Bob was a Life Member of the Hillside Lake Fire Company and a member of the East Fishkill Rescue Squad. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, a coach with East Fishkill Little League, and an ASA Softball Umpire. A World War II history enthusiast, he ran in 1971 as the Democratic candidate for Dutchess County Legislature, and also was a Dutchess County Elections Inspector. Bob was also a regular blood platelet donor with New York Blood Bank.

On October 15, 1960 at Christ the King Church in Yonkers, Bob married Diann (Lohrfink) who survives at home. He is also survived by his sons and their wives, Robert G. Coghlan of Avon, CT, Kevin M. and Kathy Coghlan of Duxbury, MA, and Gregory D. and Jacqui Coghlan of Fairfield, CT; his grandchildren, Katelyn Coghlan of Astoria, Jill, Kevin and Elizabeth Coghlan of Duxbury, MA, Erin and Elizabeth Coghlan of Avon, CT, and Mimi and Gregory Coghlan of Fairfield, CT. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Cindy Coghlan.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 11am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
