Police: Ulster County Man Found With Large Amount of Heroin, More
An Ulster County man allegedly had a lot of heroin and other drugs in plain sight inside his home.
Last Friday, members of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in Kerhonkson after receiving a request to check the welfare of the occupants.
Deputies observed approximately 60 "bags" or "decks" of heroin and a small amount of marijuana in plain view inside the home, police say.
Luis Maldonado, 44, of Kerhonkson was arrested and transported to the Wawarsing substation. He was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and a violation for unlawful possession of marijuana.
Maldonado was arraigned in the Village of Ellenville Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash or $40,000 secured bond.
Deputies were assisted by the New York State Police and the Ulster County Sheriff's Office Detective Division.
