Police: Two Killed in Rosendale Car Crash
Two Ulster County men have died following a car crash. Police say both men were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
According to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, emergency officials responded to a report of a single vehicle accident on Lucas Avenue near the intersection with TanHouse Brook Rd in the Town of Rosendale.
When The Town of Rosendale Police and Ulster County Sheriff’s Deputies responded they found a 1996 Dodge Ram had collided with a tree. The driver, Ronald Myroniuk, 58, of Cottekill, was found unconscious and trapped within the vehicle. He was freed by Fire Department members and pronounced dead at the scene.
The front seat passenger, 58-year-old Robert Myroniuk, also from Cottekill, was found with very serious injuries. He was transported by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center. Myroniuk died from his injuries late Wednesday evening at the hospital.
A preliminary investigation shows that neither occupant of the Dodge Ram were wearing their seat belts. However, the driver-side airbag did deploy.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Anyone that may have witnessed the accident is encouraged to contact the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office at 845-338-3640.
