Police say that a Hudson Valley teenager was driving while impaired by drugs and possessed drugs. The car’s passenger was arrested for possessing an assortment of drugs.

On Monday State Police from Cortlandt pulled over a vehicle traveling on State Route 6 with a loud exhaust. The cars passenger, 21-year-old Vincent A. Poggioreale of Yorktown Heights was allegedly in possession of 229 grams of marijuana and approximately 60 Alprazolam pills, an anti-anxiety medication similar to Xanax. He was also allegedly in possession of an additional small amount of marijuana.

Poggioreale was charged with 3rd-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony, 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and a violation for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police say an investigation proved that the driver, an unnamed 18-year-old Yorktown man was driving while impaired by drugs. He was also found to be in possession of Alprazolam. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs, and 7th-degre criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors.

Poggioreale was issued appearance tickets directing him to appear before the Town of Yorktown Court on March 17, 2016 after he posted $250 station bail. The teenage driver is due to appear in the Town of Yorktown Court at a later date.
