Multiple Orange County police departments executed search warrants in the City of Newburgh and New Windsor Friday afternoon.

Over $55,000 worth of heroin in 5,515 glassine envelopes was seized during the raids, the City of Newburgh Police Department said in a press release issued Friday. Police also recovered $51,391 in cash along with a felony weight amount of crack cocaine.

Percy Smith, 43, was arrested and charged with six counts of felony narcotics possession. Chenita Hayes, 38, was arrested and charged with two counts of felony narcotics possession.

The City of Newburgh SWAT team, Town of Newburgh SWAT team, the Town of Woodbury react SWAT team, the Town of New Windsor Police Department, ATF and FBI took part in the search of the three locations in Newburgh and a fourth in New Windsor.

The search warrants were a result of a joint investigation among the City of Newburgh Police Department narcotics unit, the Town of Woodbury Police Department, the ATF and the FBI that spanned several months.
