Parts of Interstate 84 and Route 17 were closed Tuesday morning as officials investigate and clear an accident that involved multiple tractor-trailers.

On Tuesday around 4:00 a.m., New York State Alert Support announced I-84 east between exits 4 and 5 in Orange County were closed due to a tractor-trailer accident.

At 4:41 a.m., New York State Alert Support updated the situation and said the ramp to exit 121 on Route 17 in the Town of Wallkill had also been shutdown due to the accident on I-84 between exits 4 and 5.

Hudson Valley traffic reporter Nancy Remy reported many tractor-trailers were involved in the accident, including one tractor-trailer that was flipped over. Remy calls the scene a "mess of traffic" and injuries are reported.

It's unclear as of this writing how long the closures would last, but it's advised if you typically travel on I-84 in Orange County to seek alternative routes Tuesday morning.

We will update this article as more information becomes available.
