Ohio Woman Illegally Possessed Gun In Newburgh, Police Say
A woman from Ohio is accused of bringing an illegal loaded gun to Newburgh.
On Tuesday, New York State Police from Montgomery arrested 41-year-old Emily J. Baker of Rosemount, Ohio for second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C felony.
During a traffic stop in the City of Newburgh, a front seat passenger, later identified a Baker, was found in possession of a loaded revolver without a permit, authorities say.
Baker was arraigned in the City of Newburgh Court and was remanded to Orange County Jail on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. Baker is due back in the City of Newburgh Court at a later date.
The arrests comes after a number of shootings in the City of Newburgh. Two weeks ago a man was charged in the fatally shooting a Newburgh teen. The teen was killed was killed while standing near a popular high school hangout.
Last month, there was shooting at the Newburgh Waterfront.
Many are calling for federal funding for the City of Newburgh to receive new gunshot detection technology.
