In a pleasantly shocking twist of events, Newburgh isn't the most dangerous place in New York anymore.

New York Upstate put out their list of the 25 most dangerous towns in upstate New York. Unfortunately, 2 Hudson Valley Towns made the list. The list is based on 2016 FBI crime data, which is the most recent available. It has two categories: property and violent crime.

Coming in at number 24 is Poughkeepsie. However, they moved down from number 19 in the previous year. According to the article, Poughkeepsie had 234 violent crimes, 3 murders, 599 property crimes, and 129 burglaries. Poughkeepsie has a population of 30262 people.

Newburgh was ranked at number 2, actually moving up from number 4 last year. While the town has become more dangerous, it is not number 1 like most people think it is. For a population of 28,171 people, there were 403 violent crimes, 6 murders, 885 property crimes, and 206 burglaries.

Niagara Falls in Niagara County was ranked the most dangerous town in Upstate New York for the second time in a row.
