John Gordon Flannery, of Newburgh, the retired president of J.G. Flannery, Inc. entered into rest Monday, May 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 87.

The son of the late John Patrick and Catherine (Sites) Flannery, he was born May 7, 1930 in Goshen.

John was a life member of St. Mary's Church in Newburgh, graduated from NFA in 1947 and Manhattan College in 1951, proudly served his country in the United States Army, past president for Fabricators & Erectors Assoc., trustee for Local 417 Iron Workers, member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, a supporter of the NRA and was an avid outdoorsman.

John is survived by his sons; Michael P. Flannery, Dennis Flannery, Jerome Flannery, daughters; Patricia Shubert, Karen Ward and her husband, Brian, siblings; Barbara Ann McKnight, Kathleen Foerster and David Flannery, grandchildren; Meghan, M. Patrick, Kevin, Denna, James and Gillian Flannery and Colin Ward, great-grandchildren; Gia, Kassidy, Brayden, Kateri and Scarlett.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Jane (Beers) Flannery, sons; Mark Flannery and Timothy Flannery.

Visitation for family and friends will take place Friday, May 12, 2017 from 3 to 7 p.m. at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Rd. (Rt 32), Town of Newburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 a.m., Saturday, May 13th at Our Lady of the Lake Chapel, 433 South Plank Rd. (Rte 52) Town of Newburgh.

Cremation will follow the Mass at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Inurnment will take place at a time convenient to the family at Cedar Hill Mausoleum.
