Here are 14 things that the Hudson Valley remembers as being cheap/affordable at one time but now are way more expensive.

Last weekend while I was driving home from my second job (LOL) I had one of those moments that I think many folks reading this right now have experienced at one time or another. I'm not sure if there's a term for it but I'm going to call it "doodle shock" and I think it's something we have all witnessed first hand over the years.

Here's What Happened

As I was driving in Hopewell Junction Saturday night I was starving and craving cheese doodles of all things, so I decided to stop at the gas station on the corner of 376 to grab a bag to enjoy as I made my way back to Poughkeepsie. I pull in, go inside grab a small bag of the "cheese puffs" and go to pay for them, when the cashier scans the bag he says "$2.99". WAIT! WHAT? 3 bucks for a small bag. Since when?.....LOL! Yes, I did pay for them and enjoyed every one of them but DAMN I remember bags like that only costing $1-$1.50.

After experiencing "doodle shock" I thought I would ask fans in the Hudson Valley if they have experienced anything similar to what happened to me, so I asked on Facebook "What are things that used to be cheap/affordable and are now too expensive?" After getting hundreds of comments from fellow Hudson Valley residents I thought it would be interesting to see what are some of the things the Hudson Valley thinks used to be cheap but are now too expensive.
