If you’ve purchased a power strip on Amazon over the last couple of years, you might want to take a closer look at it because thousands of them are now being recalled due to the risk of fire.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), certain CCCEI-branded power strips made by Middle Way Electronics are being pulled from the market after reports that they can spark and even melt.

Power Strips Recalled After Safety Concerns

The recall impacts approximately 5,543 power strips that were sold on Amazon between April 2024 and January 2026. Each was priced anywhere from $23 to $30 and came in three different sizes, including 6-foot, 10-foot, and 15-foot models.

The recall was issued after the manufacturer received at least two reports of the units sparking and overheating, which could potentially lead to a fire. While no fires or injuries have been reported so far, officials say the risk is serious enough that customers should stop using them immediately.

How To Tell If You Have One

The recalled power strips feature a black metal enclosure with six outlets made of black plastic and individual on/off switches for each outlet.

The back of the power strip has a white warning label that says, “Relocatable Power Taps. Caution keep children away. To reduce the risk of electric shock, use only indoors, risk of electrical shock. Do not plug into another relocatable power taps or an extension cord. Use only in dry location. Made in China”

What You Should Do Now

If you think you have one of these power strips, you should immediately stop using it and contact Middle Way Electronics to receive a full refund.

Customers can request a full refund by emailing CCCEIpowerstrips@outlook.com.

Even though there haven’t been any reported injuries, this is one of those situations where it’s better to play it safe. A faulty power strip isn’t something you want to take chances with, especially in your home.
