An Ulster County business announced back in May that they would be closing for vacation, indicating that they would see their customers once they 'rested, regrouped and restaffed.' Nearly 5 months later, the word is out that Underground Coffee & Ales, located in the hamlet of Highland, is preparing to reopen on Thursday, October 5th.

A Hidden Gem in Ulster County

Speaking from personal experience, if you have never spent time at Underground Coffee & Ales in Highland, you're certainly missing out. A friend of mine referred to it as a hidden gem in the area and soon after it became one of my favorite spots to hang with friends.

Marketed as a 'café, beer bar, coffee shop, and bottle shop located in the Hamlet of Highland,' Underground Coffee & Ales is a unique spot to stop by for wine, tea, specialty coffees and of course craft beers. They are also huge supporters of the local brew scene, featuring locally made beer in some of their ten rotating taps and often 100+ different types of beers and ciders available on a daily basis.

Underground Coffee & Ales Reopens After 4.5 Month Hiatus

In an Instagram post on May 24th, the business shared they'd be closed for vacation, reopening after getting some rest, doing some regrouping, and restaffing the team.

Well nearly five months later, a welcomed announcement of their reopening indicated that Thursday, October 5th would be the return of Underground Coffee & Ales, with extended hours plus some exciting news about menu items and offerings as well.

We have re-grouped and we are excited to announce our re-opening date. Thursday, October 5th! We will be open 7 days a week 7am - 9 pm offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Can't wait to see you guys! Cocktails and beer coming soon!

No surprise, the comment section on the posts on both Instagram and Facebook have been filled with 'welcome back' messages, fans of the business tagging other people to coordinate their next trip to Highland, and lots of excitement around the fact that they are now open seven days a week, from breakfast through dinner!
