Summertime in Western New York often means people coming outside to do all sorts of things when the warm weather is around. Whether it's taking advantage of all the great concerts, events, and shows happening in the region or just finding some water to hang out at, 99 times out of a hundred, what it does not mean is hanging out at home.

However, thanks to a recent announcement from Hasbro and the Rochester Chamber of Commerce, people who live in and around New York State's Flower City will have a reason not to pass go but to stay home and collect $200.

According to a report from WHEC-TV News 10, Hasbro is releasing a customized version of their popular board game Monopoly that will feature famous streets and locations in Rochester, New York.

Since the 1930's, Monopoly has been played by families all over the country, and now people who live in Rochester will be able to feel a piece of home when passing
go.

Monopoly's streets and locations have most recently been based on landmarks in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The game will now have places like the Strong Museum of Play, Genesee Brew House, Nick Tahou’s, Louise M. Slaughter Train Station, and more. Hasbro is accepting suggestions on what landmarks should officially appear in the game. If you have a suggestion, you can submit it here.

This marks a unique moment for the Empire State as only one other region has an official version of Monopoly dedicated to the area, with The Hamptons being the other version. There was once a limited Buffalo Edition of Monopoly. Still, it was only available briefly to help benefit Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and the John R. Oishei Children's Hospital.

The new Rochester Edition of Monopoly is due in early 2025.
