I'm not much of a comics person but I do like Spider-man, Bat-man and Captain America.  As a kid I liked them all because, well, I was a typical boy.

I've never really seen the Marvel series of movies and really didn't feel like I was missing anything.

I think that Heath Ledger is the best Joker of all time.  Or at least I did going into this movie.

When I first saw the trailer for Joker, I wanted to see it.  I really don't know why but something about it sparked my curiosity.  Maybe it was because I wanted to see if anyone could possibly outdo Heath's performance or maybe it was because I haven't been to a movie in awhile but whatever the reason, I got in touch with a friend and we went.

Marc is a huge comics fan so I figured it was going to be more fun for him.  I was totally wrong.

I won't spoil any part of the movie but we went to see the movie on National Mental Health Day and man, I left there in total aw.

The film came under fire for some things that may be received negatively but if you go into it understanding mental health, you'll leave with a totally different view on things....including the movie.

Even if you aren't really familiar with the Batman movies, everything loops back around and you understand.

This film is a pre-batman kind of movie.

Is there gore?  Yes.  Is it a thriller?  Yes.  Is it a comic book movie?  Yes.  Is it worth seeing?  Absolutely yes!

Joaquin Phoenix in my book does an A+ performance.
