A Dutchess County man who works at a business that houses people with developmental disabilities is accused of hitting a resident several times.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Dover Plains, in conjunction with the New York State Justice Center, arrested Eric Kellerhouse, 37, of Poughkeepsie, New York, and charged him with endangering the welfare of an incompetent person, a class E felony, and harassment, a violation.

On July 21, New York State Police began an investigation into a complaint from a resident of the Taconic Developmental Disabilities Services Riverview IRA located in Amenia. The Taconic Developmental Disabilities Services Office is a regional agency of the New York State Office of Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities.

Police say their investigation revealed that on July 17, an employee at the home, Kellerhouse, hit a resident several times after the resident refused to follow directions.

Kellerhouse was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Amenia Court on August 15.
