Beloved TV Character Alf Might Get Statue Near Hudson Valley

A statue of the beloved TV character Alf might get erected near the Hudson Valley.

Ray Willis of New Haven, C.T. started a fundraiser to build and place a statue of Alf in New Haven.

The TV show "Alf" aired on NBC from 1986 until 1990. The show was centered on a wiseguy furry alien, Alf, who lived with the Tanner family after crashing into their garage.

So why should a statue of Alf be erected in New Haven, CT? Well, Paul Fusco the creator of the hit TV show and also the voice of Alf is from New Haven, the New Haven Register reports. Fusco attended Hamden High School and later taught there.

Willis is hoping to raise $10,000 to erect a bronze Alf statue in a New Haven city park.

"For far too long we have ignored this cornerstone of our cultural heritage. I say that ends now. I have spoken to the Parks Department & other organizations who manage public land & got a quote for a life-sized bronze ALF sculpture to commemorate our galactic savior. With enough public support it’s entirely feasible for us to erect it in one of our city parks," Willis wrote on his fundraiser.
