Barbara Marie (Godfrey) Congelosi, a longtime resident of New Windsor, N.Y., passed away on December 1, 2017, after a long illness, at the age of 85. She was born on July 21, 1932 to Aldina (Perry) and George Godfrey in Peabody, Mass. After graduating from St. John the Baptist School in Peabody, she moved to New York City and worked in the accounts department of R. H. Macy’s Department Store.

She married Andrew Norman Congelosi, of New Windsor, N.Y., on October 2, 1954. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as the office manager of the family business, Congelosi Well Drilling & Pumps, until she and her husband retired. Andrew passed away on August 19, 2014.

Barbara loved reading, made beautiful quilts and was an amazing baker. She was also an accomplished pianist and had a lovely singing voice. She was loved by all who knew her for her warmth, empathy and caring nature.

She leaves her six children, Catherine of Pittsfield, Mass., Barbara of Irvington, N.Y., Joseph of Wallkill, N.Y., Andrew of Barryville, N.Y., Michael of New York, N.Y., and Lisa of Middletown, Conn., as well as four grandchildren, Joseph, Peter, Dana, and Maria.

Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Road (Rt. 32) Newburgh, N.Y. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with a private burial immediately following at Calvary Cemetery.
