Anthony A. Rozzi, fondly nicknamed “Gumby” and “Bones”, of Washingtonville, NY, entered into rest on Sunday, January 1, 2017. He had just turned 84. The son of the late Theodore and Jeanne (Pommier) Rozzi, he was born December 28, 1932 in Harlem, NY and was raised in Mt. Vernon. He resided in Yonkers for 44 years before moving to Washingtonville in 2010. He married Grace (Vozzella) Rozzi on August 21, 1955 in St. Mary’s Church in Mt. Vernon. Grace survives at home.

Anthony attended Cardinal Hayes and was a graduate of A.B. Davis High School. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp as a Sergeant from 1951-54 in Korea with the 1st Marine Division, Marine Air Group 33, Marine Tactical Air Control Squadron 2. He worked as a mechanic for White Plains Nissan, and was a life member of the Marine Corp League and NYS Rifle & Pistol Association.

In addition to his wife Grace, he is survived by his sons, Anthony (wife Carol) of Pine Bush, Michael (partner Mike) of Ft. Lee, NJ, and Richard (wife Patricia) of Boca Raton, FL; his siblings, Theodore of Brewster, Michael of New Milford, CT, Robert of Hull MA and Yvonne of Greene, NY; grandchildren, Thomas, Stephen, Michael, Stuart and Emma Grace; great-grandchildren, Stephen, Johnathan and Chase; and 31 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Natalie in 1964, and two brothers, James and Albert.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, January 5 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Friday, January 6 at St. Mary’s Church, Washingtonville, with burial with military honors following in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to a charity of choice in memory of Anthony Rozzi.
