Ann Torba, a Longtime Area Resident, Dies at 95
HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Ann Torba, 95, an area resident since 1992, died on March 25, 2018 at the Pines at Poughkeepsie. She previously lived in White Plains.
Born in Manhattan on February 22, 1923, she was the daughter of the late George and Emily (Romersa) Soldati. In 1942 at St. Valentine’s Church in the Bronx, Ann married John Torba who predeceased her in 1965. She retired as Branch Manager in 1982 from Key Bank in White Plains where she worked for over 25 years.
Ann is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Doreen and Robert Teagle of Hopewell Junction and Eileen and William Smythe, III of White Plains; her grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Jeffrey Breen, William and Katina Smythe, IV, Melissa Smythe and Jhon Ceballos, Eric and Brigida Smythe, Brian Teagle, and Dr. Kelly Teagle and Robert Hughes; 13 great-grandchildren; and loving nieces and nephews. Ann was looking forward to meeting her 14th great-grandchild this spring. She was also predeceased by her siblings, George Soldati and Barbara Baronti.
Ann loved her family more than anything, and enjoyed spending quality time with them.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Denis Church, 802 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
