The saga continues. Two local residents are accused of making separate social media clown related threats towards the same Hudson Valley high school.

On Thursday, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office investigated two separate clown related social media postings, one on Instagram the other on Twitter. Both postings referenced Arlington High School.

Both posts pictured someone in a clown mask. Neither directly threatened Arlington High School, but both implied there could be a problem at the school, officials say.

An investigation led police to develop two suspects: a teenage girl who attends Arlington and a 23-year-old brother of another Arlington student. The student had no involvement in the posting, authorities say.

At this time, police don’t believe the high school was ever in real danger. Criminal charges are being considered, but none have been filed.

The Sheriff’s Office is working closely with the Arlington Central School District and their investigation is continuing.

These clown stories remind me of a song from Lamb Chop, “this is the song that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friend.” (Sorry if that gets stuck in your head, it’s now stuck in mine!)

On Tuesday, a 13-year-old from Ulster County was charged with making terroristic clown threat towards Poughkeepsie Middle School.

Last weekend, Orange County police investigated photos of a clown holding a rifle on a bridge. Then on Monday, S.S. Seward was placed on lock down after reports of a clown in the woods near the high school.

In the wake of the all clown reports, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office released some helpful information for anyone concerned about the creepy clowns.
