If going to the movies was getting too expensive, you're in luck.

AMC Theaters announced that they will be offering $5 movie tickets on Tuesdays. This is a major price drop for the average movie ticket price nationwide, which was $8.97, according to ABC. I don't know about the rest of the country, but I know in the Hudson Valley, most movie tickets are about $10, if not more, especially on weekends.

In addition to the $5 Tuesday movies, AMC is also offering a $5 drink and popcorn combo. Which is great, because what's a movie without a cold soda and buttery (read: oily) popcorn?

The catch? You have to be a free AMC Stubs member, which is their rewards program. But the program is free to sign up for, so it's almost like there's no catch at all.

The Hudson Valley has 3 AMC locations:

  • Middletown
  • West Nyack
  • Port Chester

Netflix is also buying movie theaters in New York. And while you're looking for other cool movie deals, 'Labyrinth' is returning to select Hudson Valley theaters for 3 days only in May.
