Police are hoping you can help them as they investigate a shooting near a Hudson Valley church.

On Saturday, around 3:30 a.m., the City of Newburgh Police Department received a shots fired activation from the Shot Spotter system, indicating multiple shots fired in the area of 197 South Street. The shooting occurred just a few feet from St. Mary's Church and within walking distance of Church of Our Father, according to Google Maps

Upon arrival, officers found a large crowd that was dispersing, but no details were given to police, officials say.

Around 4:30 a.m., a woman walked into St. Luke’s Hospital with an injury to her hand and evidence consistent with bullet fragments, police say.

According to the City of Newburgh Police Department, investigators learned she was in the area of North Miller Street and South Street when shots were fired. The woman's name hasn't been released.

The shooting is being investigated by the City of Newburgh Police Department Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the City of Newburgh Police Department at (845) 561-3131.
