A man from the Upper Hudson Valley was killed when his motorcycle crashed into a tractor-trailer on the New York State Thruway.

Thursday around 12:15 p.m., State Police began to investigate a fatal accident that occurred northbound on I-87 between Exit 22 (Selkirk) and Exit 23 (Albany / I-787).

Police say William A. Walsh, 43, of Cairo was riding his 2003 Kawasaki on I-87 North when it collided with a 2013 Peterbilt tandem tractor-trailer.

Walsh was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Randy W. Hilliker, 62, of Scotia was not injured.

Authorities have not released what they believed caused the accident. No tickets have been issued at this time.
