State Police investigated a two-car fatal head-on car crash in Ulster County.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle traveling northbound on Route 209 near the intersection of Pine Tree Lane in the Town of Marbletown veered from its lane and struck a car that was traveling in the other direction head-on.

The reason the northbound car traveled over the double-yellow lines is still under investigation.

The driver of the northbound vehicle was extricated from his vehicle and transported to the Kingston Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The operator of the southbound vehicle was also transported to the Kingston Hospital Emergency Room for non-life threatening injuries.

Both operators were later transferred to Albany Medical Center for further treatment.

The passenger in the southbound vehicle was taken to the Kingston Hospital Emergency Room and was pronounced deceased. Police are not releasing the name at this time.

No charges were filed at the time and the investigation is ongoing.

Assisting the State Police at the scene were the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, Town of Hurley Fire Department, Town of Marbletown Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Spring Lake Fire Department and Mobile Life Paramedics.
