Sterling David Fuquay, a Newburgh Resident, Dies at 88
Sterling David Fuquay, 88 of Newburgh, entered into rest on Friday, July 21, 2017. The son of the late Cecil and Effie (Outen) Fuquay, he was born September 12, 1928 in Durham, NC. He was married to the late Philomena Fuquay, who predeceased him in 2010.
Sterling proudly served his country in the US Army, and was Head Waiter at USMA at West Point. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his three daughters, Colleen Shapiro and husband Roy of Newburgh, Jean Mottley and husband Mac of Bel Air, MD, and Kay Fuquay of Middletown; grandchildren David (Evelyn), Christine (Sean), Ryan and Douglas; great-grandchildren Devin, Cailin, Bailey and Brayden; and several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his wife Philomena, he was predeceased by his son, David Sean Fuquay, and siblings, James, Doris, Betty Lou and Kay.

Visitation and prayers will be held from 11 am – 12 pm on Wednesday, July 26 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. Burial with military honors will follow in Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden.
