A large reward is being offered after a 10-week old puppy was found dead submerged in a pond a stone's throw from the Hudson Valley.

The Greenwood Lake Animal Hospital announced 10-week-old golden retriever puppy was found dead Tuesday in a pond in West Milford Township off Bonter Road.

A rescue officer from The Last Resort Rescue noticed a crate at the edge of the pond with a puppy in it.

"The puppy was dead and ice cold, soaked inside the crate, lakebed vegetation hanging on the crate, with a lead crystal ice bucket inside the crate and wee wee pads stuck to the side of her head with a small amount of blood on them," The Last Resort Rescue wrote on Facebook.

At this time there are no suspects or leads, according to Passaic County Prosecutor.

"It appears to be an approximately 10-week old female golden retriever puppy who was killed/ drowned and submerged into the pond in the crate. Weighted down with the heavy crystal vase perhaps, or maybe struck with it," The Last Resort Rescue said.

The puppy's body was transferred to an investigator for photos and then to the local veterinarian for an autopsy.

The Last Resort Rescue is raising money for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible. As of this writing, over $8,500 has been raised as a reward.
