It's never too early to start living out your dreams.

If you have dreamed of working as a police officer or if you know of a student who has shown interested in criminal justice, they may want to think about joining the Youth Academy with the Poughkeepsie Police Department. According to a press release, from now until June 10th at 5pm, the Poughkeepsie Police Department will be accepting appliucations for their Youth Academy Program. The program is open to students who will be in 10th, 11th or 12th grade in September 2017.

At the Youth Academy Police program, students will have a hands on interactive experience that introduces them to the criminal justice field. Certified instructors will go over criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, K-9 familiarization, SWAT, real life scenarios and more. Applications can be found online at www.townofpoughkeepsie.com or by visiting the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department on 19 Tucker Drive.

Applicants must be residents of the Town of Poughkeepsie. This is a free program, but space is limited to 20 students. Classes will be held from Monday June 26th until Friday June 30th.
