Police: Man Caught With Over 3 Pounds of Marijuana During Traffic Stop

A man who was a passenger in a vehicle was allegedly in possession of over three pounds of marijuana. 

On Monday, at approximately 1:00 am. state police stopped a vehicle on I-87 in the Town of Plattekill for a speeding violation.

During the interview with the driver for the traffic violations, probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants was established.

The passenger, Sihang Yin, age 19, of New Hyde Park, NY, was found to be in possession of over 3 pounds of marijuana.

Yin was taken into custody and processed at the Newburgh barracks for the charge of Criminal Possession of Marijuana second-degree, a Class d Felony.

The driver was issued tickets and released. Yin was arraigned in the Town of Plattekill Court.
