A Hudson Valley woman is behind bars after police say she was impersonating a doctor.
New York State Police at Highland arrested 28-year-old Christina Nasti, of Plattekill on 14 counts of 1st-degree criminal impersonation, a class E felony.

In the hit T.V. series Seinfeld the character of Kramer often portrayed himself as a fake doctor. Posing as “Dr. Van Nostren,” Kramer acted as an dermatologist for a cancer screening at George’s company, Kruger Industrial Smoothing. He also attempted to get hold of Elaine’s medical chart to erase the negative comments her doctor wrote about her.

In both cases, the impersonation was done in Hollywood for laughs. Police say this local impersonation case was no laughing matter. Nasti was arrested after it was discovered that she was allegedly calling in prescriptions for herself impersonating a doctor.

Nasti was arraigned in the Town of Loyd Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu $25,000 cash bail $ 50,000 bond.
