Police: Hudson Valley Man Kills Ex-Girlfriend

Police say a Hudson Valley man murdered his ex-girlfriend Tuesday evening.

Tuesday around 9:45 p.m., Saugerties Police responded to 26 Randle Court in the Town of Saugerties for an abandoned 911 call.

Upon arrival authorities found 24-year-old Amy L. Burger deceased from an apparent gunshot wound laying on the floor of the residence.

Karon Bowden, 41, the estranged boyfriend of Burger, was taken into custody by officers and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies. Police would not say how their investigation led them to charge the Saugerties man with murder.

Bowden was arranged in the Town of Saugerties Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail.

Saugerties Police were assisted in the investigation by members of the NY State Police BCI, Uniform Division, and the Forensic Investigation Unit in addition to both uniform members and detectives from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
