Paula's Public House Closes After Car Driven Into The Building

A popular Hudson Valley restaurant and bar will be closed for days after a driver suspected of being under the influence drove through a wall and into the establishment Wednesday afternoon.

According to a statement via their Facebook page, Paula's Public House in Poughkeepsie informed customers he driver needed was initially unresponsive and needed to revived with Narcan. Narcan is given to people suspected of overdosing on opiates such as heroin or Oxycontin. Due to the quick reaction of local first responders and staff on site, the driver has a second chance.

But the damage is done and outside the driver of the car, there are no major injuries to report at this time. Paula's Public House will remain closed until repairs can be made.

Due to the actions of a heroin addict my restaurant is closed for the next few days. He drove directly through the wall into the building. Thankfully, beyond thankfully no one was hurt. He was dead on the scene, but because of the quick and brave actions taken by my Chef Justin, my bartender Traci Albertson Carolei , two customers and the swift response of the Police and Fire departments who administered 3 doses of Narcan, the driver was brought back to life.
