Local Theatre to Hold Auditions this Weekend

Calling all actors and actresses this Saturday and Sunday the Denizen is holding auditions for an upcoming production. This weekend you can audition for a local production of Ike Holter's SENDER which will be directed by Martine Kei Green-Rogers.

All auditions will be in person in New Paltz  and must be pre-scheduled. You can contact the Denizen Theatre and request a time by emailing information@denizentheatre.com. Make sure if you request an audition you include the role you wish to read for in the subject line. You also need to include a head shot and resume. If you have access to local housing you should include that as well.  

The Denizen will accept video submissions. Union and non-union contacts are available. Equity members will be hired under the Equity Special Appearance Agreement, Level II. ​ The Denizen is encouraging actors and actresses of any race or ethnicity to audition for any role listed as "any ethnicity". They have also stated that this production will employ color-conscious casting and you are welcome to ask the director about that at the audition.

All performances will be at the Denizen Theatre in New Paltz. People auditioning should be available to rehearse September 10, 2019 through October 3, 2019. the shows will begin October 4, 2019 and run through October 27, 2019. with a possible one week extension.

Character descriptions are below direct from the Denizen​:

Lynx, Male identifying, about 30, any ethnicity. Former bad boy turned laid back guy. Drifter. Mysterious to the point of nausea. Can’t tell a lie but very uncertain of the actual truth. Magnetic and attractive. Lights up a room. Smooth talking, hiding something. Never apologizes.

Tess, Female identifying, about 30, any ethnicity. Could have been a very responsible adult. Walks dogs. The voice of reason, but with a very short threshold. Long suffering and hard drinking. Interrogates like an attorney. Lost hope. Doesn’t trust, craves stability, accustomed to losing.

Jordan, Male identifying, about 30, any ethnicity. Late bloomer. Resident tag along. Suddenly quick witted. Former jetsetter with wings recently clipped. Works at Groupon. Able to lift other people up even though he’s constantly grounded. Puppy dog from The Shelter. Trapped and desperate for escape.

Cassandra, Female identifying, about 30, any ethnicity. The only actual adult. Finally found out what’s up in life and will take the risk, damn the consequence. Knows exactly what’s wrong with everybody else. Would rather hear a lie than accept the truth.
