Last Day to Mail Packages From Hudson Valley Before Christmas
Time is running out if you want to make sure your packages arrive at their destination in time for Christmas.
There are a lot of last-minute shoppers in the Hudson Valley, but if you need to wrap and ship a gift somewhere else your time is already beginning to run out. This week begins the deadline to get those packages mailed out in order to make it under the tree for Christmas morning.
USPS
According to the Postal Service, Hudson Valley residents should have their retail ground and first-class packages sent out no later than December 17. If you're using Priority Mail, packages received by December 19 should arrive by Christmas. For those who are really falling behind, Priority Mail Express is also available and will deliver packages dropped off as late as Friday, December 23, but you're going to pay a pretty price for that service.
FedEx
The deadline for FedEx ground service has already ended on Wednesday, but those using FedEx Express Saver or FedEx 3Day Freight have until December 20 to get their packages out. FedEx also offers two-day, 1-day and same-day service.
UPS
UPS is advising customers to check its website for ground service deadlines according to where their packages are going. The company has also suspended any guarantees as to when ground packages will arrive at their destination. Packages shipped before December 20 through 3-Day-Select will most likely make it there by Christmas. Those running late can also take advantage of UPS 2nd Day Air and Next Day Air service.
Amazon
Those with Amazon Prime can get their packages sent directly from the company to the recipient. Depending on the item being gifted, available delivery dates may vary. Items that offer two-day Prime shipping should be purchased by December 22. One-day and same-day shipping may be available depending on the gift's destination. If you've completely missed every deadline, the company says that electronic gift cards can be purchased on Christmas Day and delivered instantly.
