Joseph Arthur Yellen, Sr., a US Navy Veteran, Dies at 93
Joseph Arthur Yellen, Sr., 93, died peacefully on March 18, 2018 at his home.
Born in Jamaica, Queens on February 23, 1925, he was the son of Joseph and Alice (Shapiro) Yellen. He proudly served our country in the US Navy during World War II. Joe was the owner and operator of Yellen Welding in Hopewell Junction. He was a life member of Protection Engine Co. 1, and a founding member of the Rombout Fire Company.
Joe was predeceased by his first wife, Jennie Winberg; his second wife, Rosaria Giovenco Licari; two daughters, June Yellen Heinzelmann and Joanne Yellen; and his siblings, Donald James Yellen and Patricia Ann Yellen; all of Fishkill, NY
He is survived by his son, Joseph Yellen, Jr. of Fishkill; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. A reception will follow at the Rombout Fire Company. Joe’s cremains will be interred on Saturday at 11am at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
